Trauma Therapy
Do these Sound like you?
I can’t stop thinking about past stressful experiences.
I always feel “on guard” and hyper-aware of my surroundings.
I have extreme views towards myself, other people, and the world.
I’ve been told I have trust and intimacy issues.
I avoid talking about bad things that have happened to me.
Avoidance works- until it doesn’t.
If you’ve had a recent painful experience or you feel stuck in the past, trauma therapy may be right for you. First, we’d assess you for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and formulate a treatment plan.
I use 2 methods to treat PTSD (1) Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and (2) Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy. Both are research-backed intensive psychotherapies. CPT teaches you to reframe negative thoughts about the trauma and PE helps you gain control by facing your fears. In my experience, you can expect to see results in 12 weeks. The only way out is through.
